June: Identifying Your Future Major Givers
When: Tuesday, June 16th (12:00-1:00 pm)
Where: Virtual (Register Here)
Presenter: Stephanie Flaherty, Director, Leadership Annual Giving & Pipeline Development at UMass Amherst Foundation
Read more This presentation equips fundraising professionals with a practical framework for identifying and cultivating future major gift donors within their own organizations or institutions. By walking through the structure and strategy of UMass Amherst Foundation's Leadership Annual Giving (LAG) Program, attendees will learn how to build and manage a program that will serve as a bridge between traditional annual giving efforts and major gift fundraising. Attendees will walk away with a replicable moves management framework, personalized engagement strategies, and a compelling data-driven case for why investing in mid-level donors is one of the most effective ways to grow a major gifts pipeline.

Stephanie Flaherty is a seasoned fundraising and development professional with nearly two decades of experience building meaningful relationships between donors and the institutions they care about. Her work has primarily been in higher education — uniting a consistent passion for philanthropy with an exceptional ability to cultivate and convert donor interest into lasting investment.

Currently serving as Director of Leadership Annual Giving & Pipeline Development at the UMass Amherst Foundation, Stephanie leads strategies that identify and nurture high-potential donors, bridging the critical gap between annual giving and major gift fundraising.

Between her two stints fundraising on behalf of UMass Amherst, Stephanie broadened her expertise as Director of the Amherst Fund at Amherst College, a Development Officer at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, and a Major Gift Officer at Keene State College — each role deepening her fluency in donor stewardship, pipeline strategy, and the unique cultures of advancement across institutional types.

Join Women in Philanthropy for an engaging and timely conversation with regional philanthropic leaders as we explore the evolving landscape of funding, community investment, and nonprofit partnership. Meet the Funders will bring together leaders from the corporate, foundation, and community giving sectors to share insight into current funding priorities, emerging community needs, and what meaningful collaboration with nonprofits looks like in today’s climate.

Panelists will discuss trends they are seeing across the sector, how organizations can build authentic and lasting relationships with funders, and the important role philanthropy plays in strengthening and sustaining our communities during uncertain times. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear directly from funders about the values and strategies shaping their work moving forward.

We are honored to welcome the following panelists:

  • Denise Hurst, Vice President of Community Impact and Partnerships, Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts

  • Hayley Dunn, Manager of Corporate Citizenship, Eversource
