Data analytics: to some, this sounds like an exciting spreadsheet filled playground, while to others this is akin to the region on an ancient map marked “Here Be Dragons”.  All of our organizations understand the importance of collecting information (aka data) about our donors and constituents, however not all of us know how to use that data to our strategic advantage.

Ruthie Giles, a proud self-proclaimed Data Nerd, will walk you through how to you can start on your journey to become an office that implements data-driven strategies to ultimately bring in more gifts.  Some of the issues Ruthie will address in the session are:

  • How do we overcome barriers to doing data analytics - such as lack or technology, lack of staffing, lack of time, or lack of anyone who knows how to do data analytics?
  • How can we use the data that we have collected to drive our organizational strategy in order to bring in more gifts?
  • How do we target the right donors for a specific fundraising initiative?
  • How do we find a “hidden gem” donor in our current list of constituents?
  • Is it even possible to implement any of this in our office? (the short answer to this is: YES!)
